Savion Industries - leading manufacturer of patient transportation systems and solutions – is launching a revolutionary series of patient transportation systems for adult and child patients with highly contagious airborne infectious diseases, such as swine flu, SARS, plague, tuberculosis and others. Based on a negative-pressure chamber mounted on a transportation stretcher patient trolley – including motorized transportation stretchers – the system is designed for first line patient transportation from initial patient reception and through to where patients can be hospitalized in sterile isolation units. The mobile stretcher chambers provide complete air circulation within the chamber through carbon filter and blower, enabling patients to inside the chamber for sufficient time for full diagnosis and initial treatment, whilst eliminating any expulsion of contaminated air from inside the chamber – and thus ensuring complete safety and security for the attendant medical staff. The system operates on rechargeable batteries to allow full mobility of the units for up to 12 hours continuous operation. The fully transparent chamber is fitted with a series of conduit sleeves through which patients can be diagnosed or receive active medical treatment, with facilities for connecting cables for monitoring equipment or tubes for ventilation or intravenous drips. The units can accommodate patients of all ages, whether conscious, or unconscious, or on ventilation. A special model for children – mobile pediatric isolation chamber, fitted on to a Savion pediatric bed - is now also available. The isolation chambers do not interfere with the full operation of the stretcher or pediatric bed functions – which can include height adjustment function, adjustable back-rest, and trendelenburg function if CPR needs to be administered.
